Stnding by the boat after the James River trip

Dr Ward headed the trip to the James River in Virgina for Mid-Atlantic Fossil and Nature Adventures. A couple of us stand around one of the boats after a great day of hunting. We had stopped about five locations.

A table covered with fossil shells I found on the trip.

Most of the finds that day where the great scallop shells. My haul for the day is pictured. Thanks to Cathy at DVPS for setting up the trip.

Would love to hear back.

While walking along a stream that fed into the James River, I found what appears to be a whales tooth. It looks like the type that would be in a small whale or dolphin. Are these commonly found?

Yes, fossil whale teeth are a fairly common though welcome find. Dolphins have small peg-like teeth while whales are larger and more varied. Would you like to send a closeup photograph in and share it on the website?

  5. looking to find partner(s) to collect along James River. I live in Fredericksburg and am willing to travel or overnight if needed. Looking for serious collectors…prefer collecting with adults only. Willing to trade art for boat time. Visit my Webpage at http://www.eyetoeyestudios.com….
