paleontology

I got these yesterday at an auction in Eaton, CO. I couldn't pass them up, but I don't know what they are. What are they? I have no clue?

Unknown fossil possible a septarian nodule.

The one on the left does look like a septarian nodule to me, so probably not a fossil. The one on the right might actually be part of an ammonite. Some had pretty ornate projections on their shells. I found a similar looking piece that eroded out of the Pierre Shale formation in the South Dakota badlands.
