Although it was not complete, I was very excited to find this Carcharodon auricularus tooth that is over two inches long. This is an extinct cousin of the more well-known Carcharodon megalodon shark and the first auricularus I had ever found. The tooth is from the Harleyville Formation and was discovered at a cement quarry in Harleyville, SC. The location is not often open to the public, but I was fortunate enough that day to be given a guided tour for a article I was writing about the quarry.
